About IDEAS Impact Award


The IDEAS Impact Award was established to formally recognize students within the Daniels Faculty for their substantial contributions to the advancement of Inclusion, Decolonial work, Equity, Accessibility, and Sustainability (IDEAS). These meritorious contributions must demonstrate a positive influence either within the Daniels Faculty itself or through engagement with an external community or organization. The significance of these contributions shall be substantiated by the achievement of quantifiable and tangible outcomes. These outcomes may encompass, but are not limited to:
• the successful elevation of awareness regarding Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) principles
• the effective reduction of systemic or institutional barriers
• the execution of impactful volunteer work dedicated to the betterment of community welfare
• the successful implementation of on-campus initiatives specifically designed to amplify the visibility and work of equity-seeking groups


Impact Fellow


Each distinguished recipient of the IDEAS Impact Award will be conferred the esteemed, lifetime designation of Impact Fellow. This honor includes automatic induction into the developing community of Impact Fellows, which functions as a robust network of peers. This network is committed to fostering the professional and personal growth of its members, supporting their ongoing efforts to serve as effective social impact advocates and committed change-makers. Subsequent cohorts of Impact Fellows are anticipated to represent a broad spectrum of disciplinary approaches and methodologies, each of which must yield demonstrable and replicable outcomes that are suitable for sharing, thereby engaging and providing inspiration to others.


Application Requirements


All nominees must submit an online application of impact-driven work. Submissions not meeting specifications will not be reviewed.

Assessment focuses on the quality of contributions toward Inclusion, Decolonial Work, Equity, Accessibility, and Sustainability and the presentation approach.

Include at least one (1) sample/project documenting your efforts as a social impact advocate. Concise text descriptions must articulate express IDEAS goals and measurable outcomes.

Identify the context: academic, community, personal, or professional, and your specific role/leadership in individual or group projects. Identify the project duration.

Portfolios will be reviewed digitally on various screen sizes. (laptop, display, large format display; all with an aspect ratio of 16:10).

Evidence / Portfolio

· Page Limit: Maximum of 3 individual pages (title page may be implemented within design).

· Content: Must contain evidence of work documenting your contributions to inclusion, decoloniality, equity, accessibility, and/or sustainability. Document at least one sample or project from academic, personal, or professional contexts. Work should clearly illustrate your efforts as a social impact advocate and change-maker

1. Statement of Interest

· Word Count: Maximum of 750 words.

· Purpose: This is your opportunity to discuss your interest in the IDEAS Impact Award, how your contributions advance inclusion, decolonial work, equity, accessibility, and sustainability at the Faculty, and how your experiences have motivated your commitment to becoming a social impact advocate and change-maker

2. Curriculum Vitae (CV) / Resume

· Note: The faculty encourages applicants to edit this carefully but does not have page limits or specific requirements. It is not recommended to include a photograph.

3. Letters of Reference

· Quantity: One letter of reference are required. Max two.

· Submission: Referees should provide contact information in your letter and It's highly recommended to confirm their availability beforehand.

File size: 10 MB maximum > or less, total PDF file size.

File format: One (1) single PDF file. Each page of the PDF will be viewed separately. Be sure to designate your layout viewing preference when saving your file: 2 page view = spreads (2 pages side by side in 1 page of PDF) OR Single page view = (1 page of PDF)

Portfolio page limit: 10 individual pages.

Portfolio format: Portrait, landscape, and neutral (square) orientations are all acceptable.

Viewing environment: Review of application will take place on computer screens and monitors (aspect ratio 16:10), with different display specifications. The maximum pixel resolution per page or spread is 3840 x 2160.
