In the summer of 2014, GALDSU undertook a renovation of the Graduate Student Lounge with the goal of enriching a social hub for graduate students. The renovation idea was born as a response to the space needs identified by the Mental Health Report and the Space Planning Workshop conducted during the 2013-2014 academic year.

The renovation was driven by the six members of the Executive Council as well as countless volunteers, who devoted many late nights to building furniture, designing signage, hanging lights, scraping paint, and searching for the right furniture.

GALDSU is thankful not only to the volunteers, but also to Student Services, the Workshop, the Fabrication Lab, and the Caretaking Services for their expertise and help throughout the summer.
